Acclaimed in 34 countries on five continents, Lenuta Ciulei began her brilliant career in her native country at the age of nine, appearing on Romanian National Television. In the years since, the violinist has performed countless concerts in many countries around the world, offering a repertoire that incorporates musicians such as George Enescu, David Oistrach, and Eugene Ysaye. Lenuta Ciulei began playing at the age of 5, later following courses by masters Stefan Gheorghiu, Andre Gertler, Raphael Druian, and Ruggiero Ricci. In 1976 he won the prestigious Paganini Prize in Genoa; he also won the T. Varga Prize in Sion (Switzerland) and M. Abbado in Sondrio. He has played for many prestigious festivals including Bayreuth Festival (Germany), Malboro Music Festival, Carmel Bach Festival, George Enescu International Festival, Santander International Festival (Spain) and Massa-Carrara International Festival. Lenuta Ciulei has played in front of the Grand Assembly of the UN at the UN Palace in Geneva, the Bartok Memorial House in Budapest, Carnagie Hall, the Great Hall of the "Tchaikovsky Conservatory" in Moscow, Lincoln Center's "Alice Tully" Hall, and the Teatro Real in Madrid in front of the Spanish royal family. He has also played as a soloist with leading orchestras around the world. For her outstanding career she received the "Pennsylvania Council of the Arts Fellowship Solo Recitalist" award in 1994, and, she was also awarded the "Rio Grande" Cultural Order by the President of the Republic of Brazil in 1996. Lenuta Ciulei is the artistic director of the Orvieto String Festival.
