Giuseppe Gibboni, the winner of the 56th edition of the International Premio Paganini, played the strings of the famous "Cannone," the instrument that belonged to the Genoese violinist and is preserved in the Strada Nuova Museums, at the special concert organized at the Carlo Felice Theater on the evening of Wednesday, Oct. 5. 

Donato Renzetti conducted the Carlo Felice Opera Orchestra for an appointment - "I virtuosi" - of absolute prestige. The program included Niccolò Paganini's Concerto for Violin and Orchestra No. 1 in D major op. 6 MS 21 and Sergei Rachmaninov's Symphony No. 2 in E minor op. 27.

The concert, scheduled in the Opera Carlo Felice's season, had the collaboration of Rai Radio 3, that recorded the evening as part of the media partnership established with the Theatre. In addition, the evening is part of a programme of events that, also under the aegis of the Premio Paganini, aim to promote the figure of the famous Genoese musician and composer. This is part of the new course desired by Mayor Marco Bucci to re-launch the historic competition. In order to strengthen the actions to promote the figure of Niccolò Paganini, the City Council also approved a series of proposals related to two important anniversaries: the 240th anniversary of his birth and the 50th anniversary of the acquisition by the Italian State of the important Paganini Fund, which has been kept in the Casanatense Library in Rome since 1972.
