He studied violin with Enrico Polo and Michelangelo Abbado at the Conservatory of Music of Milan and was very young when he got his first-class diploma. He started his career playing as first violin with the "Orchestra del Teatro alla Scala" of Milan for almost forty years and collaborated with the most famous "maestri" of that period, from 1954 to 1993. He was a member of the "Solisti di Milano" conducted by Angelo Ephrikian, of the "Solisti della Scala" with Claudio Abbado and of the "Virtuosi di Roma" with Angelo Stefanato.
He was also first violin of the "Quartetto della Scala" for fifteen years.
