Krzysztof Wegrzyn

Krzysztof Wegrzyn was born in 1953 in Gdansk/Poland. He began playing the violin at the violin at an early age, and studied with Zenon Brzewski and Irena Dubiska in Warsaw, Wolfgang Marschner in Freiburg and Yfrah Neaman in London. He was a laureate in renowned international competitions as the "Ludwig Spohr" (Freiburg) and the Montreal Competition and won the "Szymanowski Competition" (Lodz, Poland) and the "Lipizer competition" (Gorizia, Italy).

Wegrzyn - an internationally known concert artist - is himself a Professor at the Hannover Music Academy ad holds master classes in Europe, the United States and in Asia. He has served on numerous juries at prestigious violin and chamber music competitions, including the "Kreisler" in Vienna, the "ARD" in Munich, the "Osaka Competition", the "Sarasate" in Bilbao, the "Leopold Mozart" in Augsburg and the "Stradivari Competition" in Cremona. In addition he has been active in chamber music for years, for example as a founding member of the New Warsaw Piano Quintet. Since 1995 he has directed the Gdansk International Violin Seminars and the Gdansk Spring Music Festival. Krzysztof Wegrzyn is the founder and Artistic Director of the Hannover International Violin Competition dedicated to Joseph Joachim.
